There is a new game teaser upon the horizon. Larian Studios the developer of Divinity: Original Sin teases a new project in the official website with a “III” logo. Although it’s just one logo it is possible that it may have already given away all the project. All the signs are pointing to Larian Studions next project will be Baldur’s Gate 3.
The website itself does not explain the meaning of “III” logo, but the metadata discovered within a video file is containing various references to Baldur’s Gate 3, publisher Dungeons & Dragons and Wizards of the Coast. Baldur’s Gate is set in the Forgotten Realms Dungeons & Dragons campaign setting. This video also contains an intriguing phrase: “Gather your party,” that is an often-heard refrain in the original Baldur’s Gate games.
In 2018 a member of the RPG Codex forums posted that Larian Studios CEO and founder Swen Vincke has “acquired the Baldur’s Gate license.” This is a fact that makes the case of mysterious logo being a reference to Baldur’s Gate 3 even stronger.
Electronic Entertainment Expo 2019 (E3) is coming very close, it starts on June 11, so with all the press conferences and everything, it shouldn’t be long till we can put this guessing to bed and know for sure what the logo actually stands for.
Baldur’s Gate is a fantasy role-playing video game. The original developers of Baldur’s Gate games are BioWare and was published by Interplay and Black Isle Studios. The first Baldur’s Gate launched in 1998 for Windows PC and Mac.
