One of the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament Evo 2019 this year is really feeding us with some tasty information. Arc System Works, a video game developer and publisher that is based in Yokohama, Japan known for games like Guilty Gear and BlazBlue, now is making a new untitled Guilty Gear game.
Arc System works have released a new teaser trailer on their YouTube account that was premiered on Evo 2019. The teaser reveals that Guilty Gear will be released in 2020, though it does not share a specific date or even a month or a platform.
The teaser shows an epic sword fight between mainstays Ky Kiske and Sol Badguy. By the looks of it we can expect stage transitions in this game which would be a fresh feature in this game. Also, in the last ten seconds of the teaser trailer of Guilty Gear we can see a new character coming. The new character looks massive, ripped, with a white cloak and dreadlocks and has some kind of skull-like helmet (looks like it could be pretty useful in a battle). And the video ends with “Coming 2020” with no specific date. The new character appears to be standing somewhere in snowy and windy mountains. Maybe Arc System Works is hinting us that we could be seeing this game in 2020 winter, January or February perhaps? Let’s hope so.
Arc System Works in 2020 will have their 22nd anniversary and the last game that was released in this fighting game franchise was Guilty Gear Xrd Rev 2 that was released May 25, 2017. Also, BlazBlue franchise that is considered a spiritual successor of Guilty Gear fighting games has a new game version in the works – BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle 2.0 that is set to be released on November 21, 2019.
